08:07 AM ET 01.17 | Atlanta's slide, which it snapped Wednesday, had been wearing on Josh Smith, who sat out the game while serving a team suspension. [Smith's] agent spoke with Hawks general manager Danny Ferry on Wednesday to discuss what he characterized as "a lot of frustration" with the team's recent spiral, but stopped short of making a trade request. ... Smith will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and barring an unlikely departure from Los Angeles for Dwight Howard or Chris Paul, would be among the top players on the unrestricted market. "I do know there are teams interested," [Wallace Prather] said. Multiple rival executives confirmed that the Hawks have participated in trade conversations with several teams regarding Smith, a 27-year-old.

Of course he does want out, either way he's gone at the end of the season. He's probably hoping the Lakers will call once the Lakers decide what to do with Gasol.

in the NBA everybody is athletic....w/ that being said this guy is just a cut above the rest athletically but you just don't know when he wants to start shooting those nasty floater J's.
he is not a max contract player by any means but neither is joe johnson so that's the NBA.

Wonder if he watched the game last night? Hawks played rather well without Mr. Smith. Might be time to put the realestate agent on speed dial!

I'm tired of saying this to the Hawks brass. Been saying since 2 years. Trade him when he has value. ATL is doing what ORL did with Dwight. get to the point of total desperation and then make a dumb trade to get very little in value.
Smith's biggest asset has been and always will be, his athleticism. And that has been in the decline last year or so. he has NO other "skills". No BB IQ to speak of, no leadership, and plenty of negative issues in the locker room.

Atlanta is always going to be competitive but in the end, they are nothing more or less than fighting for the 4th place spot in the East.
With or without Smith, they will not get by the Heat, Knicks or Celtics in a 7 game series.
