08:08 AM ET 01.17 | Just when will one of the most expensive pieces of Los Angeles' spendy offseason be ready to play? [The Dodgers] got an update on the health of left fielder Carl Crawford on Tuesday that indicates he has begun a throwing program, making it more likely he'll be ready by Opening Day. Crawford underwent reconstructive surgery on his left elbow in August. ... He has been rehabilitating this winter near his home in Houston. Appearing on 710 ESPNLA Tuesday, Dodgers president Stan Kasten said he had just gotten a positive medical report, including video, and that the four-time All-Star has lost 10 pounds since last season and has started to throw. "At no time has he felt he wouldn't be ready for Opening Day," Kasten said. "That's exactly how we feel."

It will be interesting to see how he bounces back with a new team in a new league.

He'll be on the DL before Memorial Day.

You Red Sox fans are so bitter. Get over it already.

If he wasn't an ex Ray, you'd feel the same way. Bottom line is he played in only 161 games in 2 years. Even in 2011 there was always something wrong with him. His body is falling apart.

You have to admit (maybe a little) that some of the bitterness is warranted..... Highly paid, under performed and not out there to earn the money.... When that much is involved - it may take a short while...

I think he really tried, but the fact of the matter is that he was a bad fit in Boston --and his body is breaking down. I'm not bitter. I wish him the best of luck in LaLa.
Can't say the same about Beckett.

It's not his fault his elbow blew. All I know is the guy is serious about his training and injuries weren't an issue when he was with the Rays. At 32, he's not falling apart.

No, not really. If Crawford had shown up fat and out of shape, and put out no effort like Pat Burrell did after he signed with the Rays, you'd have reason to be bitter. But that wasn't Crawford. He worked hard the whole time he was there. I can see disappointment, but don't hate on the guy.

In the last 2 years he's mised time or been hampered by a hamstring pull, groin pull, tweaked back, wrist surgery and TJ surgery. He's falling apart. Thank God the Sox found a sucker to take this guy off their hands.

I don't or never did HATE the guy. I just always thought he was always over rated and sure as hell didn't deserve that contract. What the hell was Theo thinking on that one?
If he rebounds for LA, good for him. I just don't see it happening, but I'm certinly not rooting for him to fail.

According to Tito in his book, the consulting firm hired by the owners stated that the team needed more star power to help sagging TV and radio ratings.

as far as i know crawford its to have a very good season in 2013,,should he make it to the ASG?that would be a plus but as long he be able to hit 300 and stole as many bases things could be looking really good in his favor though..
