08:11 AM ET 01.17 | On the day Alex Rodriguez underwent surgery, there was a more encouraging update from his infield neighbor. Derek Jeter confirmed that he has been cleared to resume baseball activities Wednesday night when asked about his declarations that he would start at shortstop on Opening Day after recovering from surgery on his fractured left ankle. "Why not?" Jeter asked before the kickoff party for his Turn 2 Foundation golf tournament at the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino. "I've been saying it all along. I've gotten the OK for baseball activities. I've been cleared, but I am not doing them yet. I am right where I need to be physically." Jeter, 38, had surgery on Oct. 20 to repair the ankle he fractured in Game 1 of the ALCS.

With that work done on his foot - should he be doing any hurdles at this time....

Sorry; I thought she was M-Teo's girlfriend..... ;-)

I'm trusting that this guy knows what he needs to be, come the start of the season and how to get there. But I've also heard people tell me that when you have this kind of injury to your ankle it never really goes back to feeling or behaving like it used to.

Also - now - a Cardinals linebacker is confirming he met someone in Samoa that may have been his girl friend.... Damn - this is getting redicualous...... < word rediculous being enunciated with Brian Pinchots best accent>

I think there's a lot of lying going on right now.

Somewhere Woody"Backpage" Johnson is licking his chops hoping this guy is available with the 9th pick in the draft.

The NY Post photo shopped a picture of Jeter to make him look paunchy about 3 weeks after his surgery. Any normal human who has his foot immobilized would tend to gain a few pounds from sitting around all day keeping his leg elevated.

That's a prime example of the Notre Dame 'higher' education for you........

And this is the part that's gauling, While I respectfully disagree doctrinally with the Catholic Church - the tenets that are used at ND from an educational perspective are very good. It's a fine school. And years ago a great football program (generally year in year out). So it's all they need to have some kind of character scandal hit the wind the first time they are pertinent on the national football scene again....

and jeter would need to carefully get back in his regular training,,,

January 17, 2013  11:34 AM ET

rushing to get back in shape at times could backfire the healing process, best thing to do here, take easy and don't run if you aren't fully healthy..
