08:15 AM ET 01.17 | Thanks to a morning altercation that prompted a call to university police, Branden Dawson and Adreian Payne made headlines before Michigan State tipped off against Penn State. They were the story of the game, too. Checking in together for the first time with 16:37 to play in a tight contest, they lifted the No. 18 Spartans to a 81-72 victory at Bryce Jordan Arena. And then they were the postgame story. Coach Tom Izzo brought Dawson and Payne with him to his news conference, where both apologized for a hallway scuffle at their hotel that resulted in a hole in the wall but no charges. ... Izzo said he has had fights like this many times before, but he didn't want to minimize the significance of the incident.

The scuffle...
Yo! Gimme a twizzler, bro.
Nah, man. Get your own. [grin]
Oh, I prefer yours! [reachin' 'n' grabbin']
[ongoing attempts to grab & withhold]
[loss of balance, large bodies falling, hold in the wall]
Damn, man! Look what you did!
Oops! [Holding up shred of twizzler & grinning]
Fool! [smirk]
Let's move on.
Yeah... Shee-it, man!
