03:12 PM ET 01.17 | Ken Whisenhunt will be the new offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, according to Adam Schefter. Whisenhunt spent the previous six seasons as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Whisenhunt twice led the Cardinals to the playoffs and took them to Super Bowl XLIII. But after Kurt Warner retired following the 2009 season, the Cardinals struggled, particularly on offense. Over the past three seasons, Arizona finished 26th, 24th, and 31st in total offense and Whisenhunt was fired following a 5-11 season in 2012.

Good guy. I hope he does well in San Diego. Maybe he'll get another head coaching shot at some point.

Indeed. Phillip Rivers is no Kurt Warner, but he's better than what Whisenhunt had to work with in Arizona.
