ESPN interview with Manti Te'o cancelled

03:42 PM ET 01.17 | The bizarre saga involving Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o and the hoax surrounding his dead girlfriend got deeper on Thursday, as an interview between Te'o and ESPN's Jeremy Schapp was supposedly scrapped. Deadspin published the story on Wednesday afternoon, and the university released a statement on Wednesday night, claiming that Te'o and everyone was the victim of a cruel hoax. Te'o has yet to comment publicly on the story, but it was expected that he could as soon as Thursday. Now it would seem that we may have to wait a while longer to hear from him.
