03:21 PM ET 01.17 | In a bit of a surprise, Brian DePalma was announced as the director for "Happy Valley," the movie about the child abuse scandal that engulfed Penn State in late 2011. DePalma, whose credits include "Scarface" and "Mission: Impossible," was a bit of a surprise choice, considering his career has centered around action movies. Al Pacino, who worked with DePalma in the past, will play the role of Joe Paterno.

DePalma? What? The director's gotta be old enough to have played for JoePa during his inaugural season at PSU?

Well, maybe I can see Pacino delivering JoePa's iconic "Come to Penn State!" line from the Obese 11 promo vid.

Brian de Palma? Expect to see scenes of a Purdue quarterback getting his entire torso split in half (with slow-mo guts spilling out) by an unblocked Penn State linebacker, a Nittany Lionskicker using a machete to stop a Notrre Dame kick-returner from scoring, and cheerleaders that fire .357's at the Miami duck.
Major Carnage, I spell Oscar bids.

I can't wait. I just hope it's NC-17 and in 3D. Notre Dame will probably be watching it as the in flight movie for every road game, if they ever play a road game.

I was kinda thinking similar thoughts, de Palma films are always a little quirky with odd camera angles, just hoping there's no "spinning around the room from above" Sandusky shower scenes in this one...
