07:30 PM ET 01.17 | Former Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley only finalized his sale of the team to new owner Robert Pera before the 2012-13 regular season began, but he's far from becoming disinterested in the NBA community. Heisley wants back in. There's a broad caveat to returning to the NBA; the situation has to be to Heisley's liking. Tough the Sacramento Kings have long been a target to potential NBA owners, Heisley told USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt that he's not interested in buying the franchise, nor is he thinking the Milwaukee Bucks are about to go on the market under current owner Herb Kohl. Still, Heisley likes turning around businesses, and he's even told NBA commissioner David Stern that he'd be listening if the right team went up for sale. "I tremendously enjoy getting involved in a troubled situation and straightening it out," he told USA Today. "My interest would be if there was a situation that came up and I thought I could do something with and the price was right, I would be interested."

Heisley has had great business success outside of the nba, but his record with the Grizz is pretty bad. I think they made the playoffs three times with him as the owner from 2000-2012, and only once advanced past the first round. Jeff Van Gundy called the ownership out in 2009 on National TV, saying the Grizz were the worst owned team and that they "weren't even trying".
And what's more puzzling he sold the team due to age/health reasons. And now he wants back in? I think he's just blowing smoke.
