Door slightly ajar for Tulo

08:13 AM ET 01.18 | When Team USA's provisional roster was announced Thursday morning, Troy Tulowitzki's name did not appear among the selections. The door remains slightly ajar that he could be added later. It's Tulo's understanding that the WBC committee would need to see him play in spring training games testing his surgically-repaired left groin before deciding whether to move forward. The WBC would have to insure his contract, assuming a risk given the $140 million remaining on his deal. Tulowitzki played in only 47 games last season. ... Team USA's final roster must be set on Feb. 20. However, a spot can be left open or a player can be subbed out due to injury. It remains a longshot, but the door isn't closed.

This is just another example why the Rockies are one of the bottom teams in baseball when you owe a SS $140 million.

Well, thanks to totally incompetent ownership, Tulo and Cargo are the only players on the team that are worth anywhere near that kind of money. The Rox will continue to be bottom-feeders until new owners -- who know anything about baseball -- are found.

this player should protect himself physically and mentally plus he shouldn't be playing with the rockies money,,,

I'm surprised the WBC committee allows any players with 9 figure deals since they insure the salaries.

wqiseup: Toulowitski sat out most of last year on DL. If toulo is finally healthy and finally ready to play, why risk another injury playing what amounts to an exhibition series. Toulo is an important cog in an otherwise weak lineup.
