04:03 PM ET 01.18 | We're less than a month away from the Super Bowl and while we know who's performing at halftime, we didn't know who would be starting things off by singing the national anthem. Well, we now know that singer will be Grammy Award winning artist Alicia Keys. According to the Associated Press report, the source tipping them off spoke with anonymity as the NFL has yet to officially make the announcement. While Keys is singing the National Anthem before this year's Super Bowl, it would make a little more sense if the native New Yorker sang the anthem next year when the big game is held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. This year's game already includes the vocal styling of Beyonce, who sang the anthem before the 2004 Super Bowl, which was held in her hometown of Houston. The announcement that Beyonce would perform at halftime was made back in October.

Whatever the case, she is far and away better than having that piece of trash Janet Jackson with Justin Timberlake showing her altogethers.

Honestly, I know a lot of people criticized it, but I thought Paul McCartney's performance the year after nipple-gate was outstanding.
