Thibodeau, Brooks ineligible to coach All-Star teams

04:08 PM ET 01.18 | The NBA All-Star Game is right around the corner, but the Bulls very well could get shut out from top to bottom when the game officially tips off. The NBA All-Star reserves will be selected Jan. 24, which means Joakim Noah will have to wait until then to hear if his name is added to the roster. However, head coach Tom Thibodeau can expect to not be asked to coach the team in any capacity this year, as he's been ruled ineligible. The NBA picks the head coaches for both the East and West team based on who has the best winning percentage through Feb. 3. Thibodeau coached the Eastern Conference team last year, meaning he can't coach the team this year. In a system and a game that is clearly unfair, the rule was put in so that one coach can't constantly be coaching the All-Star game. This means that Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks will be blocked from coaching the Western Conference team this season, as he too was chosen as a coach last year.

Biggest joke ever would be Vinny Del Negro and Spoelstra coaching.

Woodson/Vogel and Pop/Hollins/Karl/Mark Jackson.

They are deserving but lets be honest, Del Negro isn't a mastermind at all. I would pick Karl over him every time I get the chance.

I get a laugh that early in the year all the media experts were predicting Del Negro was in over his head...Bring on the playoffs Vinny....

I disagree. Del Negro has created a second string that is second to none. Love the pun... His players are happy on and off the court. He has blended high strung egos into a TEAM and that has a fun-to-play atmosphere. Basketball isn't al X's and O's, but Vinny has enough to have his team as the SECOND winningest team in NBA and one does not just stumble into that....

Agreed! The del Negro bashing need to stop. Truth is last year, there team weren't good enough to be contenders. They are contenders but they aren't gonna win a title with that roster not because of coaching but it just isn't a good team.
