11:54 AM ET 01.19 | To void or not to void? Nearly three weeks into the Rams' offseason, but nearly two months away from the start of free agency, running back Steven Jackson still has plenty of time to decide. "He hasn't made any final decision on that," Jackson's agent, Eugene Parker, said this week. "There's no urgency. The season just got over. So there hasn't been any discussion with the Rams on the future." A late-season tweak in Jackson's contract pushed back the deadline for him to reach a decision on whether to void the final season (2013) of his deal. Originally, the deadline was five days after the Super Bowl, which would have been Feb. 8. But in an end-of-December contract revision, Jackson now has until the start of free agency -- or March 12 -- to reach a decision.

They have improved.

A bit, but they remain in a division with Seattle and San Francisco, both still in ascendency. I don't see playoffs in the Rams' future within Jackson's football lifetime.

Good point!!! IMO, the NFC West will be pretty strong next with the Niners and Seahawks. The Rams should be better and you can never tell, as the Rams did pretty good against the Niners and Hawks "head to head" this past season.

I have to agree with Oldtimer, I think the Rams are closer to contending in that division than most people do.

I'm also not ready to proclaim the Niners and Seahags perennial division leaders. We've seen Pete Carroll's shelf life play out before and a few key injuries could derail either team in any given season.

It's a long shot but possible 3 Teams come out of NFC West to make Playoffs! Depends on Schedule!

I believe that division was just an aberration this season. Back to reality next year.

You could be right, but tell me in your opinion, what conference in the NFC, will be better than the NFC West next year???

The NFC North.

Wow, are you kidding???? Do you really think that the Packers, Vikings and Bears are better than the Niners, Seahawks and Rams???? I left the Lions and Cards out, as IMO that is a wash!!!
