07:51 PM ET 01.19 | San Francisco 49ers safety Dashon Goldson was fined $10,000 by the NFL for his hit on on Green Bay's Dajuan Harris last weekend. Goldson received an unnecessary roughness penalty on the play, and said that he understands what he did wrong, and that he deserved to be fined. He did not receive a suspension, however, and will be available for the 49ers when they take on the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Well I hope he apologized and sent a conciliatory cupcake! Next season they won't keep score so nobody feels inadequate!

The guy is just a thug. Why go helmet to helmet when the other guy is already down.

It's funny that when Chandler hit Vernon Davis with the spear point of his helmet there was no fine. Goldson gets fined when the Harris wasn't even down yet. Not one but both should be fined...that's all.

Trying to change that culture is going to be next to impossible. From the time guys start playing pee wee ball they're told to knock the opponent out of the game...I know I was. Now they're told to back off? Not going to happen. They'd do the same thing if no one wore a helmet..it's ingrained from the first time they play the game and like it.

I don't know where you played football, but that isn't the way we were taught. We had good coaches who actually taught us proper tackling technique, as in; lead with your shoulder into the midsection and wrap up with your arms. The best tacklers in the NFL all do it this way.
