06:44 PM ET 01.19 | Rudy Gay has been the subject of intense trade rumors recently, and the latest have the Charlotte Bobcats "aggressively" pursuing the Grizzlies forward. However, while the Bobcats are reportedly pursuing Gay, Charlotte simply doesn't have that much to offer in exchange. According to Steve Kyler from HoopsWorld, though, basketball president Rod Higgins and GM Rich Cho might be willing to make a big move in order to get Gay. Memphis isn't really looking to load up on players in exchange for Gay, rather they're trying to move him in order to free up massive salary cap space. If Charlotte wants to part ways with both Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, HoopsRumors thinks a deal might get done but as of now, the Grizzlies are looking to be wowed by that kind of an offer before moving Gay.

Charlotte doesn't have anyone Memphis can use this year. Memphis will need Gay in the playoffs so any deal will be in the summer when they exit the playoffs early again.

Rudy Gay is good but not at the expense of their two best young players. At the most, he'll bring them a few wins but he's definitely not a franchise player nor superstar. If they are willing to part with Walker and Kidd-Gilchrist then they should be looking for a star or potential franchise player on a lowly team such as Love or DeMarcus Cousins.

If they would give up Walker or MKG they are insane.
I would get a player that gets you over the hump, Gay is a great player but he isn't the one.

what does Charlotte have other than high draft picks. I wouldn't trade Gilchrist or any of the young bigs but that is all they have. It would be a good fit if Jordan gets it done. Gay is a really good player and can be a nice piece to the puzzle. They need someone close to their prime to build with and Gay fits that billing.
