Teams will be leery of free agent Greg Jennings

08:32 AM ET 01.20 | Greg Jennings is a really fine wide receiver, but he may be in for a little bit of a rude awakening on the free agent market. According to a couple of front office men I spoke with, teams might not be throwing fistfuls of cash at this two-time Pro Bowler. Why not? A couple of reasons. First, they believe Jennings won't produce as much without Aaron Rodgers throwing to him, and without Mike McCarthy drawing up plays for him. And secondly, he is 29 years old.

Depends on who he thinks he is, Greg Jennings or Jerry Rice, when it comes to the asking price.

I wonder what his sister thinks

There's a bunch of teams who would want him at the right price. Brady would like to have a guy like him on the other side of Welker.

True. He will be 30 in September, coming off injury and a low production year. He just finished a four year $27 million dollar contract. If he thinks he is due a raise, that is not going to happen.

Several teams need a receiver (Miami, Cleveland, just for starters). He'll get paid, just not as much as he expects.

Will never happen. He is too rich for the Pats, they have to put the franchise tag on welker to keep him again or give him what he wants. You can rule the pats out of any deal for this guy, unless they let welker go ( and that would be crazy) and replace him with a big name guy.

Didn't he have a couple TDs against Minn. Where would Rodgers be without him, he might find out.

Might not. It will depend on his motivation for playing. If he's just after money the Pats won't pay it. If he's playing for his legacy it could be a different story.

I agree, Welker is the best go to guy out there! They just don't want to pay him! Maybe Green Bay just might spend that kind of money on Welker, with a big one year deal?

Doesn't matter... Dan Snyder will still hand him the keys to the vault.

Welker is pulling down 9 million this season. How is that not paying him?
The Patriots are obviously apprehensive about giving Wes (soon to be 32) a long term, guaranteed deal at a cap busting number. I can't say I blame them.

I think all players should be on 1 year contracts. They can't depend on long term contracts and usually the owners back load them, then cut the player when the real money kicks in.

Little Danny is still in cap hell from the penalty assessed for exceding the cap in an uncapped year.

You got it. There are a few teams with $20+ million in free cap space, but the Redskins have some cap issues.

I think he goes where he has the chance to bag another Championship. he's 29 and just finished earning 27 milli...His best bet would be to go somewhere like N.E. or maybe even Cincinnati. Teams like my Browns, or some other scrub team will give him what he wants, but he'll just end up like Alvin Harper (remember him? Used to play on the other side of Michael Irvin. Left as a free agent for Tampa Bay and was never heard from again).
