While many of Commissioner Bud Selig's innovations have enjoyed immediate success - especially expanded playoffs and interleague play - baseball's attempt to create its own World Cup is limping along as a second-tier novelty, in large part because major league executives and players aren't embracing it.

the WBC would be perfect played only IF the games were played after the worldseries,,, but trying to play those games right before the regular season starts,,,, means trouble for any team,,,,

sending any top player to play in the WBC tournament means to throw a coing in the air and expected to win the toss, except that the players involved in this meaningless games could ended injuried or develop a injuried after the tournament is over!!!

I fully support any MLB player's choice not to play in the WBC. I love baseball but I don't care one iota about the WBC.

The WBC is an awesome idea that suffers from lack of support among baseball front offices. It also suffers because it is a young tournament that lacks history.
If baseball stays the course, the WBC has the potential to become a major event. However, baseball itself needs to stop treating it like it isn't important, as they do when they keep the best players out, or when they schedule it during spring training.
