09:28 AM ET 01.20 | The Suns originally planned to practice Saturday but spent the day figuring out who would run their next practice. After the departure of Alvin Gentry as Suns head coach Friday morning, the Suns front office is using the team's five-day break to interview internal candidates for the interim coach position. Suns assistant coaches Elston Turner, Igor Kokoskov and Dan Majerle and player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter are believed to be the candidates for the job of running the 13-28 team for the season's second half. Suns officials have not disclosed information on the process today. Suns players still reported to the arena today to work out with some expressing a desire for Majerle to take the helm. As one of the most popular people in Suns history, Majerle would be a public hit.

Majerle would be good to coach this team and he's still got his reflexes. Check out his catch of the flyball at the park while holding a hotdog during a Diamondbacks game. He wasn't the most athletically gifted of players, but he was one of the smartest, using his head in making plays when outmatched physically. Also one of the great shooters in franchise history. Shows he's got great discipline and work ethic. The Suns' season is tanked anyway and they need a lot more talent. But they can start winning a few games here and there just with better coaching and a new, positive coach coming from the sidelines. Give Dan a chance and see if he can make the big jump. If not, then find an experienced coach in the off-season but it's a no-risk proposition to have Dan coach in the meantime.

Dude, you couldn't be more wrong. Majerle was EXTREMELY athletically gifted, thus the name "Thunder Dan" for how hard he would slam a basketball.

No coach is any better than his roster. Whether the Suns hire Dan Majerle or Bob Marley, this group is still going to suck.
