Red Sox shrinking from trades

08:10 AM ET 01.21 | In terms of trades, Boston has seemed more comfortable lately subtracting big names rather than adding them. This offseason, the Red Sox have acquired most of their new players via free agency: Shane Victorino, David Ross, Jonny Gomes, Koji Uehara, Stephen Drew, Ryan Dempster, and (when it finally gets done) Mike Napoli. They have been unwilling to deal some of their better prospects, but have done a good job dealing redundant players like DeJesus, Sands, and Stolmy Pimentel. It's no secret that the Sox have walked away from deals because they thought the price tag was too high. But you wonder whether they're getting gun-shy about big deals because of their recent track record.

Sometimes you want to wait and go shopping when there's a lot of good product available.
That's why we always ignore the spam we see here.

The Bosox don't have a lot of talent to trade away, makes sense for them to buy what they can rather than trade for it.

You can observe a lot about spam by watching.

The Sox traded away several big paychecks and big names to the Dodgers, so they've used free agency to rebuild the team. They can still add through trades. Stupid article.

About Earl Weaver,,,,,,
i had a successful career, not necessarily a hall of fame career, but a successful one' he said.

January 21, 2013  11:51 AM ET

Weaver was a salty- tongued manager who preferred to wait for a three-run homer rather than manufacture a run with a stolen base or a bunt.
while some baseball purists argued that strategy, no one could dispute the results.

January 21, 2013  11:52 AM ET

He was ejected 91 times, including once in both games of a doubleheader
