08:25 AM ET 01.21 | While the Sharks opened on the road in Calgary, there was one bit of extra cargo along for the ride. Unrestricted free-agent forward Scott Gomez flew [to Calgary] with the Sharks for their season opener Sunday, but a decision on his future with the team might take another few days. However, coach Todd McLellan made it clear he didn't see Gomez's presence as a distraction. "Everybody right now is so focused on game one and excited about it," McLellan said before Sunday's 4-1 Sharks win over Calgary. "Having Scott around and having him make his decision on whether he likes our environment and whether we like him in our environment is a great opportunity for us over the next couple of days."

I'm convinced too. Caps are going to forfeit the last 47 games so as not to waste time and join the Rangers and Flyers as crossing guards for the parade. Wings will be working the parking lot!

Can I mention how funny it would be if Gomez ends up playing for the Sharks? I think that the last thing that the Sharks need is another chronic under-achiever...

Why would Gomez put himself through this ?? Travelling with a team he has no contract with...reeks of desperation...and how are the Sharks supposed to treat him anyways ??

Don't care, he's no longer our problem!!! Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, good-bye! Ole, ole, ole, ole...(just for you)
