02:34 PM ET 01.21 | At one point in their search for a new head coach, the Browns appeared to be seriously considering Chip Kelly to fill that void heading into the 2013 season. Now their new CEO wants everyone to know they felt Kelly was too risky to bring in.

and that will be his legacy when he's fired if Kelly lights it up in Philly.

Nobody wants to be in Philly either.

I'll take the skill positions in Phily over Cleveland any day. Both places suck, one just has better players.

By the way The Browns GM doesn't like his own QB either!

so he went with the Jags OC some no name , OK makes sense. Spend 2 BILLION on a team and pick a total unknown for HC (before you select a GM)....

Funny how Cleveland publicly fawned over Chip Kelly and then they play the "we didn't want him anyway" card when he chooses another team.

Chip Kelly's choice; not the Browns.

Granted I wish he would have chosen the Browns. But the reality is he'd have to have been a fool to choose Cleveland over Philly.

They didn't want some fancified college hotshot to sully their reputation.

Yeah, the new CEO wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize the Browns long winning tradition!

Chip Kelly will be back in college within 4 years.

Absolutely! Might not even take that long. He's going to find out that there are no speed advantages team to team in the NFL...they're all fast. So the whole premise of his offense isn't special anymore. I think it will get ugly real quick in Philly.

Browns GM, you are a cheapskate...

January 22, 2013  02:30 AM ET

Watch the Lakers, Kelly's system does not match well with the current Browns roster.
