Wes Welker, Patriots face uncertain future in 2013

That's 2 HUGE dropped passes in key situations in 2 years Wes. Unfortunately, that is what people and your bosses are going remember and offer you accordingly.

The Patriots wouldn't have been in the playoffs without him.

agreed and not knocking what he's done or what he did most of the game yesterday. But the sad fact is, he dropped the easiest one of them all yesterday when they needed it most.

It might be a lose-lose. The Patriots will stick to their policy of grooming scrubs and letting big-money free agents walk, and they will probably miss Welker a bit. And Welker, won't make the same impact in any other offense.

Unfortunately those 2 drops were turning points in their respective games where things started to go south for the Pats.

Yup. Combine that with the fact that he dropped a bunch of passes this season and he's taken a serious beating during his time in New England and I doubt that they will give him a long term contract for mega dollars.

I can tell you that I appreciate what Welker has accomplished and contributed to the Pats in his time here, but I think the end is in sight.

I also agree with Rusty's comment above yours. I just don't see Welker having a similar impact on another team.

Welker's a very small target and that can come back to hurt you on occasion. He's still a huge reason why they've been successful this long. If he leaves, the offense is gonna have a tough time replacing his production.

If Edelman can stay healthy he can replace some of that production and the two headed tight end monster can pick up the slack...............................provided they can stay healthy.

Denver, Green Bay, Chicago, Seahawks, Cowboys and Arizona Might disagree with you!

Welker might have to re-think his value and negotiate his contract from that position. If he asks for elite money he'll be sent packing. If he asks for reasonable money and terms he very well might get it. With his negative (big drops in key situations) there's also the fact that NE might not have gotten this far without him. Perspective and compromise might keep him there. I agree with Rex Racer...he might not do as well elsewhere.

Took the words out of my mouth.
Welker wants a big payday to finish out his career; can't blame him for that. It is probably more important thanstaying for reasonable money, or going to another winning team.
Belichick will not pay big money for a 32 year old WR, but TBrady will miss Welker if he goes.
Lose-Lose, as you say!

The bigger loss yesterday was Talib.

Welker has been good in the regular season but he hasn't been clutch in the playoffs as Mrs. Brady likes to point out.
