08:09 AM ET 01.22 | With the clock ticking toward spring training, Nationals GM Mike Rizzo has his work cut out for him. [Rizzo] says he hopes to avoid an arbitration hearing with Jordan Zimmermann, the only remaining arbitration-eligible National yet to agree to a deal for his 2013 salary, and could be open to multi-year-deal talks with Ian Desmond and Zimmermann. ... SFX, the agency which represents Zimmermann, is seeking $5.8 million for next season for the 27-year-old right-hander, but the Nationals have countered with $4.6 million. The two sides are talking, Rizzo said Saturday, with the Nationals hoping to avoid an arbitration hearing, a contentious process that most teams generally prefer to avoid by striking deals.

these players would be free from any trouble in signing with the nationals IF the hire SCOTT BORAS as their primary agent, as we all know Boras knows how to swim in the nationals park waters,,,

the nationals can't mean to only pay Zimmermann 4.6 this player has give them more good games played than any other pitcher aside from strasburg, Zimmermann has done excellent job in the mound,,, should this pitcher still have hard time with nationals to be signed??just call BORAS and things could be fixed in no time!!!

and the nationals still have red flags on strasburg,,, in order to avoid farther injuries, strasburg most remain in a low innings pitch count!!

the pitcher that yankees got from the mariners PINEDA was injuried because the team's lack in prvented him from pitching too many innings,,,
