Langenbrunner languishes in limbo

08:17 AM ET 01.22 | So far, it's hard to question Ken Hitchcock for the moves he's made this season in St. Louis, where the Blues are 2-0 and have scored 10 goals in the process. Before Saturday's opener, Hitchcock had suggested he might tweak the lineup for the Nashville game to get Jamie Langenbrunner into game action. But when you beat Detroit 6-0, it's hard to make changes. Thus, Langenbrunner, Matt D'Agostini, Jeff Woywitka and newcomer Wade Redden [did not dress Monday]. ... "But (Langenbrunner) knows the deal. He's a veteran guy; he knows the deal. And I think when he gets in, he's going to be a good player, and when he gets in he's not going to get pushed out."

Speaking of St. Lou and Hitch, if the Canucks had any clue, they would follow this goaltending model and shut everybody up. Have you heard a freakin peep made by either Halak or Eliott about playing time or sharing the no. 1 spot? Look at last night - Halak lets in a few weak ones, Eliott steps in, Blues come back and win in shootout. Two good goalies going hard for the greater good. What a shock.

Agreed Danny. In this shortened season having two good goalies sure cant hurt. Unless Gillis gets his sox knocked off id keep Lou for now.

Gillis is honestly reminding me of Burke. Nonstop bs comments to the media and all. Shut your mouth and let your team do its talking on the ice.

tough call though for vancouver.
luongo thinks he is top of the mark, and I sense the thought of "sharing' would be anathema to him

Maybe. But when a team is paying you for ten years, and you're using a NTC to veto potential landing spots, I think you best **** and do what they tell you. The 'nucks came out and made Cory their #1. They made the choice to announce that. They could've kept things internal like strong organizations do, but, ya know.

This is disingenuous, the big difference is that they're both young-ish prospects on small contracts. Both goalies are puttingu p monster stats, but sorta came outta left field. Halak lost the battle with Price, and Elliott was a cast-off from Ottawa. Once the contracts start coming up for renewal then there WILL be a controversy. I'd imagine that by then they'll have a clear idea of what's what & who's who.

Both contracts are up for renewal at the end of next season.

Agree...sounds like he's trying to hang around after the relationship is over....

Of course it always comes down to contracts. But still - playing your cards close to the vest never hurt anybody. Especially when you're in a city that literally is a year removed from nearly burning the whole thing down because you didn't win, with a media that is as relentless as it gets.

this part of your post I agree with all the way. Gillis has done nothing to bring stability to the situation. As you pointed out yesterday, he had to make a move...and now that he doesn't he should just say this is how it is and shut his yap.

Jamie might have to wait for an opening, this kid Tarashenko is carrying the team with 3 goals and an assist so far. Another Russkie skatin' around the big boys.

Luongo doesnt even wanna be there..thats a distraction in itself.....i know Gillis doesnt exactly wanna give him away but get the best deal that he can and move on.

this is true, and as the "season" goes on, it'll become worse, especially if luongo let's in a howler or two.

Have you heard a peep out of Schneids or Lou if you have it's only cause the media asks them 20 times a day

Luongo knows that this year he might end up staying for the season. More likely to move nearer the trade deadline if he does

Didn't say they had made a peep. I'm saying STL is using a two tender system effectively, peacefully and happily.

Exactly and toss in the fact that hockey is a red headed step child in St Louis. That town is a baseball town (God bless them) pure and simple and my game of hockey is an afterthought to the media unlike Vancouver where hockey is the sport to cover at the local rags.

I'm so tired of hearing about Luongo trade/no trade/maybe trade....that's all that's on the sports news....just treade him already.....(I know there is a domino waiting).

It makes me crazy when they talk about one player over and over ad nauseum.
