Four-star prospect invents Notre Dame recruiting visit

08:15 AM ET 01.22 | Notre Dame finds itself again in the midst of a fabricated story. Stanley Williams, a four-star running back prospect from Monroe, Ga., loved the on-campus visit he made to Notre Dame on Saturday. "The visit went great," Williams told Will Biggers of Blue and Gold Illustrated, Notre Dame's recruiting site for 247Sports.com. Williams recounted his conversation with Notre Dame tight ends coach Scott Booker, who said that an offer could be on the way soon. ... The trip went really well, according to Williams. The trip also never happened. Williams fabricated the trip from start to finish, from the fact that he traveled to South Bend at all to, of course, the in-person meeting with Booker regarding his pending scholarship offer.

What this kid has done is shoot himself in the foot. What self-respecting coach would want him after a stoopid stunt like this?

Can't top the UVA commit that got busted last weekend for underage drinking. Seems like "Smoke" was caught by police trying to kick a moving vehicle. Earlier thread.

Does anyone remember the kid, I think he was from a small town in Montana, whose HS held this big celebration for his announcement. He was going to be the first D1 player from that HS. Big to do, bit everything. He chose California, over other Pac10 teams....
Only problem was, the California coach had never offered him, and had never visited him. The Cal coach said, "New to me. We've never offered."
All made up. None of the other schools had offered either. How he thought he would get away with it, is beyond me.
And the sad part was, the kid was 6'6" and about 290. He COULD have probably gone somewhere. I don't know what ever happend to him. But, he could have easily been given a chance at a conference USA or somewhere, even if he walked on and earned a scholarship. But, I'd bet someone would have given him one... until that stunt.

IIRC He was at a JUCO getting recruited by PAC10 schools. Last offseason, it was a SI article around National Signing Day.

If your 6'6'' / 290 from Montana and Montana, Montana State, and Weber State don't want you, I think Conference USA should stay away too.
