08:15 AM ET 01.22 | The Stanley Cup defense took a significant hit over the weekend. Los Angeles Kings defenceman Matt Greene is out for the season after suffering a back injury on Saturday. Defenceman Andrew Bodnarchuk was recalled from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League. Last season, Greene scored four goals and added 11 assists for 15 points, playing in all 82 games. Greene was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2nd round (44th overall) in 2002. After three seasons with the Oilers, the Michigan native was traded to the Kings along with forward Jarret Stoll in exchange for defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky.

Maybe that whole lifting the Cup and skating around the ice like you had just won it again before your opening game wasn't the best message to send the hockey gods.
Seriously, what in the hell were they thinking? It's a new season. That Cup is no longer your property. You don't even look at the damn thing.

speaking of Kevin, nobody has benefitted more from personnal contacts to have an incredibly lucrative post-retirement career. With the exception of one season he's delivered nothing but mediocrity in every job he's held, yet he continues to cash in million & millions of dollars. It's crazy.
I'd be tempted to say that Mario and Gretz have benefitted more, yet Mario has actually earned his cash with his post-career work and Gretz is still owed cash from that disastrous experiment in Phoenix.

Once your back goes it's never the same. I have a bad L5 since the 80s and still comes back to haunt me once in a while.
