02:19 PM ET 01.22 | Tyrann Mathieu has had a wild and insane ride leading up to this Saturday's 2013 Senior Bowl. But while he's made decisions in the past that have greatly impacted his life - one of which was declaring for the NFL Draft - right now Mathieu is all about the future and that's a future he hopes includes the NFL. He's not participating in the Senior Bowl but he will be attending the practices leading up to it and he's hoping NFL teams speak with him while he's there. Mathieu spoke with the Associated Press and said while he'd love to move away from his past as quickly as possible, he's not expecting anyone to trust him anytime soon. Had Mathieu not become involved with drugs, something that got him kicked out of LSU, he may be entering this year's draft as a first-round prospect. However because he hasn't played football since August and didn't play a down of regular season football for the Tigers - or for anyone else - this season, Mathieu's stock has dropped to that of a mid-round pick.

I find it hard to believe that NFL scouts will want to invest much in a 5'9 175 corner with substance abuse issues?
He's giving up a half a foot on most of the wideouts in the NFL so I doubt he'll be picked in the first couple rounds but I could see someone taking a chance on him with a 3 or 4. It'll be interesting to see how this all goes down and where he goes.

He was a kick returner too, but I agree.

When I was 5, my dad took is to a Packers game weekend. We were on the field during warm ups. Being near, by proximity, football players does not make you a football player. Besides, the NFL does not need a too short LB/Drug addict.
