Jim Harbaugh sticking with David Akers

07:59 PM ET 01.22 | David Akers missed a kick in the NFC Championship game, a 38-yarder. He made his only other postseason kick against the Green Bay Packers the week prior, for a post season 50-percent completion. That's a dip from his regular season total when he went 29-42 and the San Francisco 49ers even brought in Billy Cundiff in as insurance. Ironic considering the Baltimore Ravens, their Super Bowl XLVII opponent, dropped him in the offseason in favor of a rookie after Cundiff missed a AFC Championship kick that would've tied the game. If they had gone on to win in overtime, they would have punched a ticket to Super Bowl XLVI. Cundiff was released the Friday before the NFC Championship game and ineligible to play for the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Rules state that a player cut during the postseason can't sign with a team until after the Super Bowl. But the 49ers aren't looking for a replacement, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.

No need changing anything at this point...

This is a relationship destined to end in a bad divorce!

January 23, 2013  09:09 AM ET

His choices are few and a bigger risk to change now.

If he went with Billy Cundiff, the fix is in. Cundiff doesn't deserve to be in any super bowl.

How about a story on Randy Moss possibly getting his first SB ring, though ?

Akers is a very good place kicker, like all great hitter, golfers, goalies, basketball players and yes kickers they miss and bad game.Only Jeuse can walk on water but we do have obama who things he can.

How about it the brothers Harbaugh decide that this superbowl is a kicker free zone?

Exactly. There are a lot of people who would hate to see Randy hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy.

I'm a Niners fan that watches Moss quit whenever he isn't the primary receiver. A big talent with a small heart.
