What the Cavs really wanted from Memphis

07:59 AM ET 01.23 | Viewed from the outside, Cleveland's trade with Memphis attempts to fill Anderson Varejao's absence with Marreese Speights. Varejao was lost for the season with a pulmonary embolism that developed after surgery to repair a split in his quadriceps. But from the inside, it's more about the draft pick. Speights and guards Wayne Ellington and Josh Selby certainly may become contributors for the Cavs, who sent forward Jon Leuer to the Grizzlies as part of the deal and waived guard Jeremy Pargo. But the opportunity to acquire a draft pick in the middle of the first round (or better) was what really intrigued Cleveland, while providing Memphis with the salary cap relief that may allow it to keep high-priced stars Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay.

Im not sure this draft is deep enough to be happy with a middle pick but they may find someone who can help them.

Great move by the Cavs, they add depth to their bench and grab a pick that could be mid first or maybe even better!

Selby is an example of a pampered kid who went to the NBA too soon. Too bad.
