What did owner Robert Sarver expect? He hired a team president and a general manager in Lon Babby and [Blanks], respectively, who never had held those positions before. ... Combine that with an owner who had been a wildly successful businessman but never in the sports arena and you have a concoction that is a recipe for failure. Any of those situations individually aren't a bad thing. Babby went to Yale law school and Blanks paid his dues as a player, scout and assistant general manager. Throw them together, however, and the odds are stacked against success. Sarver has only himself to blame.
