08:12 AM ET 01.23 | After three games, their record is spotless in league play. The New Mexico Lobos keep winning. As such, they are the last remaining team carrying the Mountain West flag in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, coming in on Monday's poll at No. 15, up from No. 19 last week. The 16-2 overall Lobos (3-0 in MWC games) jumped from No. 21 to No. 17 in the USA Today Coaches poll. ... While UNM coach Steve Alford is happy with his team's ranking, he was less than pleased with the polls in general on Monday. ... "I'm amazed with the rankings," Alford said. "Just looking at the rankings and we only have one team ranked. To be the third best league in the country (based on the latest RPI rankings) and only have one ranked team is bothersome, it really is."

I live out here in a very beauiful State of New Mexico and I get to watch the Lobo's.This team is slow and have trouble shooting.I hope this team well make it to the sweet 16 but that is as far they well go.

one of the writers mentioned KY, after their all-world recruiting class, hasn't won a game against an RPI top 50, losing all 6 they have played.

I think many state HS champion teams could play into the sweet 16 with the way college BB has evolved.

SL Guido, very good point. I said a couple of years ago, that the "one and two and done", will ruin college basketball and IMO it has taken it's toll.

It's only taken it's toll on the teams that live off the "one and dones." College basketball is still a great game in spite of those teams - maybe even better because it's so fun rooting against them.

I think the game is horrible, almost unwatchable.

Most of the teams ranked wouldn't beat a 50th ranked team from a dozen years ago. Teams like Butler, Richmond and VCI are only "good" because the overall quality has dropped like a rock.

There have been teams like Butler, Richmond and VCU (I think that's what you meant) doing well in the tournament since long before it went to 64 teams.

The game's changed since I first started watching (dunking, shot clock, 3 point shot), but I don't see a big drop in the quality of the games. There's just so much talent available out there that more schools can field a quality team.

People think the game has dropped, it's gotten better. More parity. The only dislike I've come across from people who say they don't like college basketball is due to teams actually play defense. Unlike nba

The other reason is that the sec sucks. Acc so so Big ten is stacked and no one seams to be talking bout the western teams.
