08:13 AM ET 01.23 | Interesting 24 hours for Lane Kiffin, who also received a vote of confidence from AD Pat Haden. With national signing day two weeks away, USC's 2013 recruiting class remains in flux as Jason Hatcher, a defensive lineman from Kentucky, reportedly reopened his recruitment. Hatcher visited USC last weekend. On Tuesday, his Twitter feed featured the post "I official decommitted from USC #WideOpen" Hatcher would be the sixth player who orally committed to the Trojans to reopen his recruitment. ... Quarterback Max Browne, running back Justin Davis and defensive backs Su'a Cravens, Chris Hawkins and Leon McQuay III are attending classes at USC and will participate in spring practice. They are part of a commitment list that totals 13 without Hatcher.

Kiffin got the dreaded vote of confidence from Haden. Lane, you're on notice.

Listen to the poor babies whine,, SC landed more top recruits than anyone. If coach Kiffin cant return this team back to the top,,, I dont know, maybe Daddy can get him a job in Dallas.

LOL. Kiffin loses another recruit??? My guess is we won't see "Kiffin lands another outstanding class" on NSD. It will say "SC". Not a huge fan of the guy, but holy cow does he take a lot of crap.

ICE, I see where the commit list is at 13, that means they can go out and get two more recruits??? How about the kid, that USC said can't attend school until next fall??? Could this now open up a scholarship for him to attend school now, instead of waiting for the fall?

But, but.... we're U$C!

We actually have 5 spots open now. Hatcher (the kid who de-committed over the weekend) found out he wasn't a good fit in Pendergasts system. He doesn't affect Fitts, because he was not an early enrollee. Fitts, and Vanderdoes are the top 2 targets on de-commits. That leaves 3 other spots. I think 2 of those go to D, and probably 1 to a WR/DB type.

Thanks for the info!!!

Things don't square at USC. The lackluster performance in the bowl game, the decommits against the vote-of-confidence from Haden. I don't know what to make of it all. My gut feeling is that trying-times are ahead for USC fans.

We might have a rough year next year. If we do, then Lane is out. Aside from being a plum job, the cupboard will b loaded with talent. That will draw a top notch coach.

ALL of it, well deserved. He's a clown, who SUCKS as a coach, and the sooner "the powers that be" at U$C realize that, the sooner the Trogans can return to the Top 5.

13 recruits doesn't sound right? They will graduate more players than that won't they, so how can they reload?

I think he's in good shape until the sanctions are done. Then SC can go and get a real coach.

Pat Haden is a smart man and a good AD. When it's time for him to get rid of LK he will and Pat will hire a good coach. I agree with ICE, I see USC having an average to good season this year, but USC is a good recruiting school and they will reload and be good in the future!!!

And that is what probably will happen!!!!

We will bring in 18. 15 regular recruits, plus 3 that count towards next years class. It's looking like they will all be 4 or 5* recruits. That's how you reload with limited schollys.

Get rid of this clown and bring in Jack Del Rio.

January 23, 2013  03:01 PM ET

The cupboard was loaded with talent this past season. Evidence the pre season No. 1 ranking.
At the end the team devolved into an all out brawl after the bowl game. Just another day in the life of SoCal. Guys battling for spots even after the season ended. The problems is they were battling off the field and not on the field. I guess Lane 'Violation" gets one more season. The recruitment trail does not look that promising, altho KiFF will promise these new guys a spot on an NFL roster after 3 yrs of school. Why graduate when you can train for the NFL in USC's system developed by Pete Carroll many years ago.

That's how it will go, if Lane doesn't get it done next year.

ICE, when are USCw's roster restrictions lifted?
Unless there's further degeneration in on field performance, won't Pat give Kiff a brief shot post-NCAA-penalties before making a change (barring the availability of his "dream HC")?
