05:02 PM ET 01.23 | Manti Te'o confessed to lying about his fake girlfriend on a Katie Couric interview back in December when he discovered that she didn't exist. Te'o told Couric that he truly believed that Lennay Kekua died on September 12th, discovered the truth back in December, and then lied about the situation. Te'o said that he had many conversations with a particular woman claiming to be Kekua after her original death in September. Te'o spent much of that time trying to figure out who she was before finally figuring out that her girlfriend never existed.
