WTH, no one put a gun to his head and made him play. These athletes know the inherent risks of playing in the NFL. If he had been paralyzed, would they have sued? I love the NFL and college football, but knowing what I know, I don't think I'd want to play football with the increase in getting a disease like Alzheimer's as a result of concussions etc.. Unless I was a really good kicker or punter.

This is why Goodell has been so adamant about revamping the contact rules. The NFL is going to plead ignorance and show the Court that now that it finally understands the dangers inherent in concussions it is taking steps to address them.
If Seau's family wins, this could open the floodgates for further lawsuits against the NFL.
I wouldn't be surprised if incoming players to the NFL are now forced to signed acknowledgment and waiver forms to protect the NFL from future liability.

Alzheimer's wasn't linked to concussions when Seau came into the league.

How do they prove the damage was caused by a hit at the professional level?
He took thousands of hits in the kids league, high school and college levels.

How come Pop Warner, High Schools, and Colleges never get sued? Why not sue the NRA ?
Come on greedy Seau family and their lecherous slim ball lawyer , they must have been in on the conspiracy also. Go for the gusto.
Just be forewarned that dragging the reputation of your son before the courts could have negative consequences.

Was Alex Karras's death football related, or old age?
There is no proof that head trauma will lead to suicide. His family always said that he was a very happy individual, depression would have been noticeable before he took his life. I think the family should be held responsible for not noticing Juniors advancing depression and doing something about it.
There will be an investigation into how much Seau drank, how many drugs he took, maybe he was taking PED's and that is what caused him to go over the top and kill himself? Maybe there is the high incidence of Islanders committing suicide ?

I don't see this getting very far.

about what. Maybe the NFL forced this guy to take the field and play knowing that getting hit in the head could be detrimental to ones health.
This is as silly as a race car drivers family suing because the guy was killed in a car accident on the track. DUH!

Likewise. They would have to prove that the NFL had knowledge of this disease and the likelihood of getting it from playing football at the time that Seau joined the league and that they repressed that information. Fact is that nobody took concussions all that seriously until recent years. The only winners here will be the lawyers
