03:28 PM ET 01.23 | In what seems to be polishing of his comments from Saturday, former Oakland Raiders receiver Tim Brown said Wednesday that he didn't say Bill Callahan threw the Super Bowl, via Sports Illustrated: "I have never said he sabotaged the game," Brown said in an interview Wednesday on the Dan Patrick Show Brown originally said he and his teammates "all called it sabotage, because Callahan and [former coach Jon Gruden] was good friends, and Callahan had a big problem with the Raiders."

This isn't helping, Tim.

RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tim Brown - I do not remember exactly what I said. It was the other guys not me.

January 23, 2013  05:25 PM ET

Actually, if you read the original article, he never actually said Callahan sabotaged the game. He said he and his teammates felt Callahan was sabotaging the game and said so at the time. But he was very careful to say that he had no evidence that Callahan actually sabotaged the game. It's what they felt like at the time. So Brown is actually saying exactly what he said the day before. He hasn't retracted anything.

The only backtracking being done is by the headline writers. Yesterday's headlines said Brown accused Callahan of sabotaging the Super Bowl. Which was technically not true. Today's headlines are saying Brown says never said that. Which is technically true.

Jerry Rice was backing Tim Brown is he back peddling with him? I find the idea of screwing your career doing that very dubious.

Why would anyone have a "big" problem with a classy organization like the Raiders? It doesn't make any sense and it is stories like this that sully greatness of recent Super Bowl heroes like Jack Squirek.

That was a thoughtful and accurate post. Very well said. You'd never make it as a member of the Media.

Look at super bowl III. Earl Morral and Don Shula made out quite well down in sunny Florida.

Agreed 100%. The media pounced when it was much ado about nothing.

As is Jerry Rice, who backed him up right? Or are you going to limit your vitriol to Brown?

Watch the interview and determine for yourself what he was actually saying.
