College football playoff three-tier plan discussed

04:52 PM ET 01.23 | The mid-major college football conferences have settled out a plan to split their guaranteed revenue from a new playoff system. The Big East, Conference USA, Mountain West, MAC, and Sun Belt will split $86 million a year. Half the revenue gets shared equally, while a second tier of revenue gets rewarded based on how conferences finish top to bottom that year. The third tier of revenue ends up in the hands of the conference that has the highest ranked team in the polls at the end of the season.
