Ray Allen considering retirement after season?

05:36 PM ET 01.23 | While he's still a key cog on the defending champions, Miami Heat guard Ray Allen says that he may retire at the end of the 2012-13 season if his body can't take the lengthy NBA schedule. Still one of the league's best shooters - he's knocked down 43 percent of his three-point shots this year - Allen doesn't want to drag on his career once his skills deteriorate. That hasn't happened yet, but the 37-year-old isn't shy about acknowledging the end is near. "I'm at a point where I've been pretty successful and I've gotten to the point where I really understand the game and how to play it," Allen told the Racine Journal Times. "But I'm not going to be that guy who just hangs on. At some point, I can let it go."

OK Ray... hopefully Knicks will make it easy for you with a quick exit ticket. I do feel you on that though.. there's more to life than basketball.. when it's time to go... you go!

I'm pretty sure he can play until he's 40. He can do what Novak does right now, just sit in a spot/corner and wait for the ball and shoot.

I lost all respect when he joined Miami to win the easy way... he's fake like Chris Bosh at center.

I don't mind him leaving Boston, he had to leave. Else he would have set the team back for years with the 20-30 millions he would have gotten.
Bradley had to become a starter, Celtics needed a faster paced offense, no place for Allen.

Ah really? When the HC says Rondo will shoot more and have more control then says your minuted will be reduced drastically and Rondo and Ray didnt get along anyway ....Ray made the right move and took a pay cut going to Miami to be happy....He made the right move!!! Oh you forgot LeBron left the Cavs to win the big one too, the Cavs got to the playoffs and loss several times then jumped ship.....Ray jumped ship from Seattle to go to a winner....Garnett jumped ship from the Timberwolves to win...I dont understand your point!!!
