Should the NHL punish Mike Ribeiro?

06:32 PM ET 01.23 | The Washington Capitals lost their second game of the season last night and center Mike Ribeiro wasn't just displeased with the quality of play on the ice. Ribeiro called out the officials after the game for failing to acknowledge two separate incidents of high sticking in the 4-2 loss to the Jets. The NHL, like all professional sports in America, doesn't take kindly to players publicly calling out referees. However, according to Katie Carrera of the Washington Post, the NHL isn't expected to hand out any punishment to Ribeiro for his comments. Either the NHL is a lot more lenient than other sports when it comes to calling out refs, or the league office saw exactly what Ribeiro saw and are ending it at that. But should the NHL have suspended Ribeiro or will not doing so result in more player revolt against officials?

Simply apologize for the fact that the officials are pinheads and all will be forgiven!

No.
But haven't seen it.
And probably never will.
I've got about 12 days to kill till after the Super Bowl and don't really have a hockey "jones" overiding things.
That has always been when I get serious about hockey.
But I'm feeling a lot less serious about tuning in than in years past.
And I've still got that pesky house painting job hanging over my head.
I do like all the glove dropping early in games though.

With all the crap about head injuries and player safety, the refs need to be doing their jobs to protect a players' safety. Talk to the refs, and move on.

At least one per day, probably two, until the Caps start to play hockey instead of hop scotch.

Ribeiro head-butted Jokinen's stick. He should be suspended and have to apologize to
