Changes transform Dallas ... to a rudderless ship

07:57 AM ET 01.24 | Back in November, Jason Garrett said, "You stay the course when things aren't going as well as you want them to go," something the Cowboys clearly reconsidered. Team owner Jerry Jones promised that changes were coming but didn't indicate how extensive they'd be. He didn't intimate the Cowboys would blow up what Garrett had been building at a painstakingly-slow pace. But that's essentially what is being done. ... In reality, it appears that Jones arrived at that conclusion -- not Garrett. Yet Garrett is the one who must find a way to manage an operation that no longer resembles the one he was busy building. All of a sudden the Cowboys have become not what he envisioned but what he feared: A rudderless outfit with no clear direction under his watch.

Unlike Jacksonville, who are a shipless rudder.

Fire the GM - wait that means JJ would have to shut up and admit he is part of the problem.

It's not like Garrett has shown he is the answer either. This team is a mess on AND off the field!

Such is life in the NFL, if they win the last game of the season the last two years then they are the NFC East Division champions two years in a row and everything changes. For want of that nail the kingdom is lost indeed.

JJ is taking all of Garretts' responsibilities away from him and then he's going to swing the ax on him. It's gonna get real ugly.

They were not coached well enough to win those games.

Heard it all before.

"America's Team"............HaHaHaHa....

January 24, 2013  09:45 AM ET

They've been a rudderless outfit since the day Jerry took over and totally without class, booted Tex Schramm and one of the greatest coaches the NFL had ever seen, Tom Landry, to the curb. He was classless the day he took over and he's been classless (and now clueless) ever since.

I agree...

This is why the running backs coach, defensive line coach, defensive coordinator and basically the play caller on offense all have lost their jobs.

Their are TWO reasons Garrett kept his job :

1 - he has 1 year left on his deal.

2 - he is hitting on youth in the draft.

Jason has potential, its not like he flat out sucks. This team needs to improve key areas this offseason and see what Garrett can do with those improvements.

The Cowboys are one of those rare things in life you never get to see. Retribution to the hated man. I love seeing the Cowboys implode every year and watch Jerry grimace. This is the karma Jerry has deserved ever since he fired Jimmy Johnson, who was the "real" builder of the Cowboy dynasty. Everyone knows this, Jerry fools absolutely noone in the sports world, then or now, that he is nothing but a money guy and thats it. He doesnt know anything about football, and the Cowboys will NEVER EVER win a Super Bowl on his watch. And I love that. It somebody getting whats coming to them right in front of our eyes. Every year. Love it.

Next, Jerry Jones will bring in JaMarcus Russell.

heard he has gotten weight down to a "playing weight of 308 lbs"...he is ready........

Everyone seems to over look the fact that since buying the Cowboys Jones has won more Super Bowls than any other owner during that time span. *Kraft also has three. Now I'm not overly fond of Jerry but facts are facts. Second point of order, who hired Jimmy Johnson. Third point of order, who traded the #1 running back in the league for half a football team giving Dallas a sh**load of talent that won those three SB's?

I can't believe this guy has already blown through his $. I can't think of any other reason this bozo would consider coming back to play. It would be funny if he got a shot with the Cowboys though.

But you fail to mention that Jones tried to take all the credit for those Super Bowl wins. Jimmy Johnson built that team with his brilliant drafts and trades, not him. Jones' Texas-sized ego won't allow him to get someone like that in the fold again.
