08:04 AM ET 01.24 | Major League Baseball's All-Star Game will return to Cincinnati in 2015 a much different event than it was in 1988 -- with a Home Run Derby on the eve of the game, which was rained out in 1988, selling out each year and a nearly week-long FanFest featuring exhibits, clinics and autograph sessions with former players, is a massive event that draws thousands -- and, along with it, the Pete Rose question. ... The biggest All-Star moment in Cincinnati history was [Rose] barreling over Ray Fosse to end the 1970 game at Riverfront Stadium. Will Rose be allowed to participate in the 2015 ceremonies when Cincinnati hosts? "I'm not going to comment on that today," commissioner Bud Selig said.

If Selig had any nuts he would Re-instate Pete Rose so he could be at the game and be entered into the Hall of Fame where he belongs, since he was one of the greatest players to play the game.
Great America Ballpark in Cincy is a really nice park lots a good food - lot a things to do at the park and after the game you can go to Toby Kieths Honky tonk across the street.

What part of "Pete Rose is banned from baseball" does the media not understand?
I'm a big fan of Pete's but he did the crime, he admitted as much, on now it's time to pay the penalty.

After Rose has passed away, the Commissioner of Baseball will reinstate Rose, Joe Jackson and Buck Weaver. The Baseball Hall of Fame will have the Veteran's Committee or a Special Ad Hoc Committee decide on their enshrinement. Jackson and Rose will be enshrined, probably in that order. Fay Vincent and others have stated that the case for Jackson is more compelling. Jackson did admit the facts of his mistake(s). Of course pure speculation on my part.

Yea, nobody likes Pete Rose. Even though he got the loudest and longest ovation when he was on the field for the All Century Team a few years back. His record of 4256 WILL NEVER be broken. Do the math: a 21 yr career at 200 hits every year and you would still be 56 hits short.

1st,thank you for the compliment. I'll be very interested to see future HOF votes after Bob Costas said that at some point in the future he would start voting for Bonds and Clemens as he feels they would have worthy numbers if they haven't taken PEDs. Costas stated he is not convinced that Sosa, McGwire and others would have HOF numbers without being enhanced for part of their careers.
Dear Sister Mary Discipline from my Alma Mater of Our Lady of Perpetual Agony would say Bonds & Clemens have some Purgatory Time to do.
Costas maybe is suggesting as high a ground as can be expected for all.

Pete has paid the penalty for 24 years. If roid users, wife beaters and multiple-time drug users can get second chances, why can't Pete? I don't condone what he did and lying about it for so many years, but he has learned his lesson and should be in the Hall of Fame for his playing accomplishments. I wouldn't let him hold a baseball job again, but he can attend games and be honored during appearances. I think it's personal with Selig.

wiseup:Players taking PEDs areCheating to give them an edge over others to improve their homerun and RBI numbers which enhances their ability to ask for and get bigger contracts. If they get caught it is only 50 game suspension. Rose Bet only on Reds to win while managing the Reds. While Rose was playing he never took peds. He was not blessed with raw talent. He worked his butt off to be the player he was. Selig is a hypocrit. Either ban all PED users or reinstate Rose.

wiseup: Examples are Sosa and Palmero. They were putting up big numbers until they lied before congress that neither of them wereusing PEDS. After that they stopped taking PEDS. Both players numbers fell off dramactly and their careers were over soon after. Not to mntion the cork the umpires found when the bat Sosa was using shattered exposing the cork. talk about cheating. Sosa claims he should be selected to hall of fame. NOT!!!!!

wise up: Selig has no baseBalls. He has until 2015 to worry about whether he should allow Rose to participate in pregame ceromonies. Until then he will continue his ducking of tough issues. He should check into getting a job doing commercials for AFLAC since the duck was injured.

I don't like Pete Rose he was rude to my kids and I wasn't a Pete Rose Fan! But I'll tell you this, he should be in the Hall of Fame, weather it's after 25 Years or not! He was an incredible Ballplayer, recently went to HOF who's outside selling memrobeillia, The One and Only Pete Rose, one of my sons tells him he wasn't the nicest guys to him when he asked for his autograph, Rose smiled and said, sometimes I was the rudeist person the Planet and I'm paying for that now! He took pictures with my sons and grandsons and yes they purchased pictures Tshirts and were glad they did!

I can't blame The Cincinnati Enquirer for reporting on this this question. Selig also knows it is going to asked on anything to do with Cincinnati.
After 60 years I finally learned where and how many Cs,Is,Ns & Ts for the Queen City, I just gotta overdo comments to show off.

Anybody who says that Pete Rose's actions tainted the game of baseball obviously never watched the man play the game of baseball.
He may be the biggest SOB to play baseball, but growing up in Southwest Ohio, he was OUR SOB!

Well, it does help when you're your own manager for a few years and you keep penciling yourself into the starting lineup when you should be riding the pine.
