08:05 AM ET 01.24 | Generally associated with Yankees baseball and little else beyond speculation about his social life, Derek Jeter went global Wednesday. As global political and business leaders gather [in Davos, Switzerland] for the World Economic Forum this week, [Jeter] hopes climate change is addressed. "I was in New York for Hurricane Sandy," Jeter told The Dispatch [Wednesday] morning, following a private function in Davos, Switzerland. Jeter is here for the Forum this week with Pepsi. "It's just something that's gotten so much attention," Jeter said of climate change. "Regardless of how you feel about it, it's something that needs to be addressed because we're seeing more and more natural disasters each year, it seems like. Something has to be causing it."

Jeter should stick to baseball instead of making comments about the climate in which he knows nothing about.

May your second comment be a little more pithy than the first.

Can you imagine CC on his 10 speed?

Interesting a guy who has never spoken up about non-baseball issues comes out and speaks on climate change. It would have been better had he decided to speak about something he could actually speak to or even help. Derek - how about child labor - you could push Nike to stop using kids to produce stuff with your name on it?

OK then, I'll address it ...."there is no such thing as anthropologic global warming".

I'm sure Derek lives his entire life with minimal CO2 emissions in mind. Excluding the hundreds of plane and limo rides.

Yup - bet he never flies private either....

nothing the jeter comments can fixed anyways,,,,,

I guess noone told Jeter about the cat 3 hurricane hitting Long Island in 1938. Actors, musicians, and sports figures need to stick to their own areas of expertise. Otherwise they look stupid and usually piss somebody off.

...Except incidents of major storms are down, not up. Sandy was a big deal because of where it landed, but wasn't even a tropical storm when it made landfall.

Half the scientists disagree with the other two thirds on this incontroversial subject.

I wonder if Jetes gave out gift baskets of his memoribilia, along with autographed baseballs, at this 'PRIVATE' function?

His first comment was spot on. Jeter is an idiot and should stick to what he knows.
