The upside to subtraction at Ohio State

08:10 AM ET 01.24 | Limited to 82 scholarships by NCAA sanctions, the pinch at Ohio State eased a bit with news that Joey O'Connor will transfer and Conner Crowell will not be cleared by the OSU medical staff. That leaves Ohio State with 58 players on the current roster. ... So far, the Buckeyes have 22 pledges to the Class of 2013. That puts them at 80, two under the 82 limit, as they continue their interest in several players, including Kentucky receiver Ryan Timmons. Several recruiting outlets reported Wednesday that Timmons just received his offer from Ohio State. Former Oregon pledge Dontre Wilson plans to visit Ohio State on Jan. 25 and, according to the Dallas Morning News, will host OSU coaches at his home on Thursday night.

what a crock!!!! If these kids are not being allowed to play at tOSU solely to make room for new recruits, then Meyer needs to go now. The B1G has rules to minimize these cases, but I guess there are loopholes.
So far, neither of these kids' stories have been in the fishwrap.

Those kids have legitimate issues. I contend that the B1G does not process players!
( turns back and removes serious look from face... walks away with a smirk and then hysterical and crazy mad-man laughter ensues as I turn the corner)
tOSU wins a MNC in 2-3 years if processing is allowed.

lol, O'Connor transferred to be close to home and Crowell transferred because he's not going to play. No one expected O'Connor to transfer, we're already thin at OL and we were looking forward to him. You can't blame a true freshman spending one year away from home and being homesick on OSU forcing him out. He was going to be playing a lot for OSU in the next few years.

Michigan will give the Buckeyes everything they want for the foreseeable future.
Like two freight trains headed toward each other on the same track.
It's going to be fun.

K-Dawg, I'm pretty sure your time in avi/name change purgatory is up.
While I am a Sparty fan, I've noticed a certain amount of roster management by Dantonio the last couple of years. Looks like there will be some this year too. Of course, it's entirely possible that some kids have already signaled their intentions to leave the program, but when I do the math, MSU has four or five 2013 commitments than available scholarships.

"The upside to subtraction at Ohio State."
I'm gonna take a guess and say that the upside of subtraction at OSU, would be the improvement it would provide in their academic requirements.
