01:20 PM ET 01.24 | Restricted free agent defenseman P.K. Subban stated in an interview with the Montreal Gazzette that he wants to remain with the Montreal Canadiens for the long-term. Subban and his representation have been trying to come to terms on a new contract with the Canadiens since the lockout was lifted. However, the sides have struggled to find common ground. Subban expressed that he thrives in Montreal's hotbed of hockey and wishes to help the team push towards a championship. Of course, he believes he needs to be compensated accordingly for his skill-set. With rumors of trades and offersheets being discussed, Subban lamented that he could be a fit with other teams across the league. However, his preference is to remain in Montreal. Subban's agent is expected to meet with team general manager Marc Bergevin prior to the weekend.

Seriously what does this guy think he's worth ?? I laughed my ass off when i read somewhere that he wanted Doughty type money..sorry kid..you havent done squat..oh yes sorry..you broke the 10 goal barrier once in your 2 seasons....the kid should sign for Del Zotto type money..he's a comparable...2.55 per times 2 seasons....prove it 1st kid then you get a real raise.

Eh. Send him to Winnipeg for a 1st and be done with it.

In contract situations it is always good to think highly of yourself and demand the best price........however, thinking you can save the world (of hockey) is a bit much LOL

Why would any team want a player with an attitude like this?

Send him to Phoenix. (if they'll have him). Seriously, I don't know what he's demanding but I don't think he's produced well enough to have anything he wants. Maybe it's more his agent than him?

we'll give you "THE MONSTER" for him

I agree. His personality isn't what teams will be paying for, so prove it on the ice.

Ummm, not to rub ya the wrong way, but how do people feel in Boston over Thomas not playing. I know you guys aren't worried, but wow he's a nut IMO, or a very sneaky intelligent man with a bigger plan.......I won't be going with the latter....
