02:47 PM ET 01.24 | Colorado Avalanche forward Steve Downie is expected to miss the remainder of the 2013 season due to a torn ACL. Downie sustained the injury during the team's 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. He will require surgery to fix the area, which effectively ends his season. In order to compensate for the loss of Downie, the team has recalled Brad Malone from the American Hockey League and will have veteran forward Chuck Kobasew take Downie's spot on the second line. The Avalanche signed Downie to a two-year contract extension this past offseason.

I'm not a fan of it either. Quite a loss for them. Gritty little player!

Full training camps are needed...look at Subban to get injured right away too when he comes back..players holding out almost always get injured.

Someone should tell the invincible Subban that! He's ok, but not in the same breath as Doughty, even when he is playing bad. Sorry Montreal fans, no offence.

I'd take him as a role player on my team any day. He will even toss in a few biggies during the playoffs.
