07:06 PM ET 01.24 | Justin Upton had been on the trade block for some time, but he now knows where he'll be playing next season. The Atlanta Braves acquired Upton from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a deal that saw a total of seven players change uniforms. The biggest name was Upton, who will join his older brother B.J. in Atlanta's outfield. The elder Upton inked a massive free agent contract earlier this offseason to be the Braves' new center fielder, while the freshly acquired younger Upton will be Atlanta's new left fielder. The Braves have now pieced together one of the best and fastest outfields in baseball with Jason Heyward being the third member of the new crew. Diamondbacks third baseman Chris Johnson will follow Upton to Atlanta as part of the trade. Johnson himself joins one of the better infields in baseball with join Freddie Freeman, Dan Uggla and Andrelton Simmons.

The answer is no.
Prado will have an impact with the Dbacks no doubt.
But the only other piece Az got that they really needed was Randall Delgado who has struggled in the big leagues, and Chase field is a lot more hitter friendly than turner Field.
Ahmed is a good prospect, but the Dbacks already have two top 15 SS prospects.
Spurrill was the braves 7th ranked pitching prospect. ot a big loss for the braves
And Drury was in A ball last season and he'll never take Goldschmidt's spot in AZ.
Braves definitely won in this trade, and the article here says nothing to argue the other way.

Everyone is judging the D Backs based primarily on Upton's potential, so people are quick to say the Braves got the best of the deal. Maybe not...
Prado is a solid player who can play 2B, 3B or the OF. He would be an addition to any team.
Delgado is a good pitching prospect.
Upton, remember, has been on the D Backs' doodoo list for a few years now. There has to be reasons for that. Yes, he's talented, but most teams are willing to shop a 25-year-old five-tool guy unless there's a reason.
How about we let this play out and see the results? Sometimes there's more to these things than just potential and obvious talent.
So many people in the late summer and early fall were declaring the Lakers the team to beat after their acquisitions of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. How's that working out?

(A)the d'backs could had taked two steps back in this trade,(B) the d'backs may have a rental player in Prado after all he would become a free agent and its very doubtfull to be resigned by the d'backs,(C)the only player that could be a solid and real trade, should be randall delgado but if delgado fail the d'backs expectations??the d'backs could be the real losers,,,

multiple treads??well i have bad news for you it seems every day we do have at least two treads from JUSTIN upton,, how you like that?? but aside from this the d'backs would need to upgrade their roster IF they really expect to be a competetive team!!!!

I'm not impressed with his leadership skills so, I think Arizona made a good deal, as for Atlanta, I would have never signed a brother combination too much BS to deal with!

Neither Upton will be expected to be a "leader" in Atlanta.

Surprisingly, Uggla has been much better at 2b than I expected.

Not to mention Simmons is damn good with the glove. 3b is another story...

It takes several years to determine if these kinds of trades or good for one team or both teams with young prospects involved.
