Raiders giving Pryor big opportunity in 2013

08:01 AM ET 01.25 | For Terrelle Pryor, his shot was worth the wait. Raiders head coach Dennis Allen made it clear in December that he wanted to get [Pryor] on the field, and that a package of plays was set up for Pryor. The former Ohio State star finally got his opportunity -- in Week 17, as a starter in place of Carson Palmer, not as a gimmick, but it could have been a glimpse into the near future for the Raiders as opposed to long-term. GM Reggie McKenzie said on Sirius XM NFL Radio this week that Pryor will have a chance to compete to start during training camp. "He needs to see if he can take a game over in the preseason, make some plays and carry out a game plan. Let him compete. That's what it's all about," McKenzie said.

Don't know if he can read defenses. He's got the physical tools so that must be why he's been riding the pine.

Some reporter saw the purchase order for all the Charmin the Raiders are buying for 2013, and assumed there was a lot of interest in TP.

Carson Palmer should make a great backup. What he should have been from the start, yo.

Exactly...
And - they don't need to be reaching for QB's in this draft. Fill the other holes on this team.
If TP ain't the guy - move on.

Don't know if he's been given the reps either..its not easy to just go out there and "play" after getting zero work with the first team consistently. Let him fairly compete with whoever else is there, its not like they have a top tier QB

Why'd the Raiders wait until the final week of the regular season to find out if TP had it or not?
It wasn't like they were in playoff contention until then!

What's Carson Palmer's contract like? Can they cut him without paying a bundle if he's injured and can't start next season?

Another reason the Raiders are taking another step backwards instead of forward thinking they have another RG111 in Pryor. Their problem is not at QB, instead they need to bring players in their organization who want to play together and win football games.
