08:10 AM ET 01.25 | Free agent righty Jair Jurrjens may have landed on his feet, after all. [Jurrjens], who was not tendered by the Braves after a rough 2012 season, has agreed to a deal with the Orioles, CBSSports.com has learned. Jurrjens will receive a $1.5 million base salary on a major-league deal and can bring his total to $4 million with incentives. Orioles GM Dan Duquette did a superb job finding pitching gems last winter, and this is another low-risk move. Jurrjens went 3-4 with a 6.89 ERA with Atlanta and spent much of the year in the minors. But he's only 26, and he's only a year removed from making the All-Star team. Jurrjens was 13-6 with a 2.96 ERA in 2011. The Orioles talked about trading for Jurrjens a year ago, but comes a better price now.

Nice pick up, still young.

It's a good risk for the money. He's not been the same since that DL stint in 2011. Hopefully he heals, but I get the feeling the Braves know something since they didn't even try to keep a former All-Star pitcher.

If he works out the money they save on getting a front line free agent pitcher is huge, and with that extra cash they can add a run producing DH.

Yeah, the Braves don't give up on a viable pitcher very often. We'll see in a few weeks.

the braves knew that jurrjerns its a injury-prone player if it was not the case why the braves refuse to sign him to a one year deal???DL time means alot to the braves though,,,

just to be more protected at the backend of their rotation the orioles should sign JOE SANDERS,,,,,plus there aren't any injuries history!!

Agreed. There's probably no franchise that has more experience developing and handling young pitchers than the Braves organization.
