The Montreal Canadiens and [Subban] appear no closer to agreeing on a new contract, and as the club continues to play games without one of their top blueliners, the possibility of the club trading Subban if they can't sign him is becoming a point of conversation. ... "I think it's ultimately heading toward a trade," said [TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie]. "They're just too far apart on the term of the contract - P.K. wants long, the Canadiens want two years - and they're probably at least $2.5 to $3 million per year apart on where they want to be. Ultimately I think this ends up in a trade."

I understood the logic and all... but I don't get the sense (short of an utter collapse) that Joe is in any trouble down here.

I think it's a little bit of both. He may be panicking a bit the way Montreal have been playing lately. They really shut Ovie down last night and Price stood on his head.

I think Joe deserves another season regardless. The ownership situation was bad for his first little while there, and now that it's solved I think he's moving the team in the right direction.

But Gagliardi does have a relationship with Irk...

Working out great! That was really one of those trades that worked out well for everyone. We needed a playmaking defenseman and he has lived up to every expectation. Gave up a lot but he is one of the "core" for the Stars.

Just need more from the other 5-6 - Lehtonen isn't going to survive facing 40+ shots a game.
