08:19 AM ET 01.25 | On Thursday night in the City of Brotherly Love, where the Rangers lost for the third time in four games, Chris Kreider watched from the press box. The Rangers' 21-year-old sensation of last year's run to the Eastern Conference Finals was a healthy scratch in [Thursday] night's 2-1 loss to the Flyers, the first time he has experienced the feeling of expendability to start his inaugural regular season. "I trust the organization and I trust all the decisions they make," Kreider said [Thursday] morning. "Ultimately, they'll make the right decision and have my best interests in mind." That interest, in the mind of coach John Tortorella, may very well be for Kreider to play in the AHL, for the Connecticut Whale.

It happens. He seems talented enough to make an impact one day. Maybe another playoff run..

Feel sorry for anyone who has Tortorella dealing with their fate.

What happened with this guy? He looked awfully good in the playoffs last year. Can't understand why he isn't getting a longer tryout.

exactly. And rather than turn him into a trivia answer, why not let him season a bit more?

It's known as the Burke/Wilson Syndrome.
Very nasty if you're infected. It could take years to recover.

Serious request: Can someone please let me know when it's far enough along into the season to actually be excited about this kid's progress if he keeps it up?

I don't know what the kids problem is. Work ethic? Sophomore jinx? If Torts wanted to light a fire under him by making him a healthy scratch it doesn't seem to be working. At least based on his response.

with young players its often 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Sometimes 1 step forward, 2 steps back. It's all part of the game.

or it could just be that until the playoffs last year he had only played NCAA hockey, and the level isn't super high...so he's adapting to the game.

He'll be fine. NY Post picking up a story off of NHL.com. Just the usual pot stirrers trying to make a story out of nothing. He's 21 years old, for Christs sake.

Can he return for the playoffs? I have a hard time wanting them to do anything stupid in this abortion of a season.
