Derrick Rose could return next month

08:10 PM ET 01.25 | After about nine months of rehab and what feels like an eternity of suffering, head coach Tom Thibodeau said that Chicago Bulls point guard and savior, Derrick Rose, may be ready to take on full contact in practice as early as next week. Many Bulls fans have guesstimated that Rose will return right after the all-star break, and this news seems to be in line with a potential Feb. 19 return date. However, the always-evasive Thibs is preaching patience -- for fans, players and Rose himself. While the organization is clearly doing everything they can to ensure that Rose has as smooth a transition as possible back in to the NBA, it's important to remember that you can never be too careful with an injury as fragile as a torn ACL, especially when it has a $100 million receipt on it. Ricky Rubio, who suffered the same injury as Rose last year, returned to action after nine months on the sideline and is suffering a couple of minor injuries -- something that Chicago is trying to avoid.

Good to learn from Rubio's experience and make certain Rose is truly 100%. The way the Bulls have been playing, they don't need to sweat not having him.

The Bulls have been impressive. When Deng and Rose return, they could take the East top spot.

Sorry...Rose will mess up chemistry for a little bit but then have the rust knocked off as the playoffs come around.

Miami has yet to play "inspired" basketball but Chicago will not catch them for the 1 seed.

My guess is Chicago gets the 2 seed and will face NY in the East Semi's while Indy plays Miami again.

Then again, freak injury can end anyone's season....
