06:42 AM ET 01.26 | The Florida Bar has opened a preliminary investigation into possible ethics violations by the Miami attorney paid by the NCAA to get information not otherwise obtainable in its probe of the University of Miami athletic program. Bar officials said Friday they opened a file on attorney Maria Elena Perez, based on news reports of her involvement in the NCAA's investigation. "I haven't done anything wrong," said Perez, a graduate of UM's law school. The Bar staff's probe, focusing on a potential conflict of interest, could go nowhere or be referred for review.
